I called Lisa this afternoon and had a quick chat to her. She seems to be going well and I ahve arranged to catch up with her and max on Monday 2nd of March.

Steph

How Email

I used Saana sleeping to send a quick email to steph. To be honest I'm not expecting a reply and I will plan to call her tomorrow. If I'm not expecting a reply, why do I email, because I am uncomfortable calling people. This is something I need to work on.

Amy

I got an email back from Amy late on Friday, but by then Saana was sick and my focus over the weekend was on Saana. This morning Saana was sleeping, so I have sent a reply to Amy and I'm thinking I need to make the effort to call her soon. We are trying to arrange a catch up, I will see what comes from amy's reply.

Valerie

How: Letter

Earlier in the week I wrote a letter to Valerie, to send with the Calender I had made for her. I really enjoyed writing the letter and I think I might make more of an effort to write letters. Today I ducked into the post office on my way home from school and posted the calender and letter off to Valerie.

EDIT - Tuesday 17th
Valerie called tonight to thank me for the calender and she is coming up for Saana's birthday weekend.

Amy

Who: Amy
How: Email

Amy is one of my longest friends. We seem to lose contact regularly, but also just continue from where we left off. I'm a bit worried about her, so I'm hoping to her back from her soon. If I don't I think I will try calling her at home. I'm hoping the email will trigger a catch up.

Guy and Kim

How: Visit

I went over and saw guy and kim today. Kim is looking very sore, but happy. Will is very jaundiced, and they are talking re-admitting him to put him under the lights. I've offered my help, but I'm planning to ring again later in the week to check if they need anything.

Dad - Grandad

I called Don and had a general chat and gave him some information about Saana's Birthday. It looks like Saana's birthday might be slightly complicated with Aunty Thelma's visit, but I have given him some ideas and he will call me back once he knows more.
I'm glad I called him, it was nice to hear his voice and have a chat.

Guy and Kim

I chatted to Guy for a few minutes about his new son William and how Sam was going at his new school.
It sounds like Kim had a pretty rough labour and I think Guy also found it emotionally much harder than Isla's birth.
I've arranged that I'll pop around Tuesday afternoon after work and before Guy goes back to work.

Outcome:
* I will visit on Tuesday
* I think Guy got some benefit from talking about the labour.
* I offered any help I can.

Why the Good Egg?

In January this year I attended a funeral of a friend I had meet through my mothers group.  I started thinking about what people might say in my eulogy and realised the main thing I wanted people to say was "she was a good egg, a good friend."  

This friend was one of those people who always had time for other people.

Since January I have been working hard to do things for other people and this has been easy as I've always been a bit like that.  

But I realised that the thing I'm not good at is contacting friends.  So this blog is about my efforts to contact at least one friend or family each day. 

THE RULES

1) That I contact one friend or family member each day. (Not my mum)

2) Contact can be

* Phone Call 

* Written Snail Mail (It counts on the day I wrote, but can't be counted until in the mailbox) 

* SMS (To count I would like to get a reply)

* Email  (No more than 3 a week, as I tend to prefer this method and I don't think it creates the same connection)

3) I will do a blog here each day, with the name of the person, how I contacted them and the outcome.  

I will put a 2 lists down the side of the blog

1) people I want to contact,

2) weekly record of the types of contact I have used.
